This policy explains what happens to your information when you use realonlineruler.com (the “site”). In short, the ruler runs in your browser, there are no accounts, and your settings stay on your device.

What the Site Doesn’t Use

• No accounts, sign-ups, or forms
• No cookies
• No analytics or advertising trackers
• No third-party scripts or font services
• No camera or microphone access

What Stays on Your Device

The site saves the following in your browser’s local storage, so the ruler is ready the next time you visit. This information isn’t sent to us.

• Ruler settings: which edges are on, your units, and where zero sits
• Calibration for each screen: the scale, the method used, a short label, the screen’s pixel dimensions, and when it was saved
• Theme: light or dark mode, if you choose one

A service worker also keeps a copy of the site’s files in your browser, so the ruler can work offline.

How Calibration Works

Auto-Detect Device reads your browser’s platform details, your screen’s pixel dimensions, and, on Android devices that report it, your device’s model name. It compares them with a list built into the page, and that comparison happens entirely in your browser.

Credit Card calibration only asks you to match a physical card to an outline on the screen. The site never scans your card and never asks for card details.

The site only writes to your clipboard when you select Copy to copy a measurement.

Information Our Hosting May Process

Like any website, the site is delivered by web servers. To do that, and to keep the service secure, our hosting provider may process technical information in server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request.

If You Email Us

If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use them to reply and to look into the issue you raised, and we keep them only as long as we need to for that. We don’t sell this information or use it for marketing. Our email provider processes these messages on our behalf.

Your Choices and Rights

• Remove stored settings: clear this site’s data in your browser, or use Reset Calibration to remove the calibration for the current screen.
• Block storage: if your browser blocks local storage, the ruler still works, but your settings won’t be saved.
• Your messages to us: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To ask, email contact@realonlineruler.com.

Children’s Privacy

The site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the site changes, for example if it adds new features or services. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page.
